Growing up, I was the overweight kid. At 15, I lost 70 pounds and became obsessed with weight training, thinking I had the keys to being strong and healthy. Despite playing football, lacrosse, and wrestling, I struggled with knee pain and never felt athletic. In 2022, numbness in my hands led to a carpal tunnel diagnosis, and that was a wake-up call—if I was doing everything right, why was my body breaking down?

I kept pushing forward, studying NASM and preparing to be a trainer. Then, a friend introduced me to Functional Patterns. I booked an assessment with Frida. I was hesitant, but she encouraged me to commit. Looking back, I can’t believe how close I was to missing out on what truly works. After five sessions with Austin, I was still unsure—FP didn’t feel like the workouts I was used to. But when I continued with a 20-pack, everything changed. My pain improved, I started feeling more competent with my body, and I realized how flawed traditional training was. I had almost built a career teaching people to count reps, not fix structure, encouraging exercise that does more harm than good. Now, as an FP practitioner, I have the tools to solve problems no other method can. I help people move better, feel better, and break past the dysfunctions holding them back.
